Many people fear or feel that they don't have the social skills to build a large network of contacts or friends. Some want to build a larger network while others would rather stay to themselves and the select group that they grew up with. And granted that is fine, but Imagine the possibilities & the opportunities that can become available but having a large and strong network.
Imagine that you want to start your own business as perhaps a professional talent agent. But you only know a hand full of people that aren't artistic or know any talented individuals. But one day you are a sitting at a bar: better yet, standing in line at the fair waiting for fried Oreos. And you hear someone talking to their friend two people behind you about how that are going to be performing at a known concert hall in your city, and they are praying that a talent manager or scout shows up and they get a recognized. Now you have been standing in that line for over an hour cause you desperately want those fried Oreos. Now you are faced with two options:
1. You can stay in line quietly and just mind your business on your phone google searching how to find talent and how to convince them to join you and your company.
2. You can let those two people behind you, take your place so that you can get in front of those two chaps and strike up a conversation about how you overheard them talking about performing at XYZ venue.
Now that you have broken the ice, you can ask them what their talent is, how often to they perform and ultimately you can ask them if it would be ok for you to come (hopefully you arrive with friends). Now you have an invitation to a performance for a talent that could potentially be a client & could even introduce you to their network of friends thus now expanding your network and possibly growing your business.
Anything is possible no matter what town, city, state, or even country. If you want to accomplish any of your dreams, it's going to require a lot more than just your drive and passion, you are going to need that large network.
Helpful Hint: Any friendship or business always started off by someone say: "Hi, how are you?"
